Eager to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors? A fantastic way is by hitting the slopes on skis and snowboards.  This is probably one of the best things you could be doing during the winter months. While there's usually plenty of space out on the mountain, in normal times people get jammed together in lift lines or inside lodges. This year, 'your car is your lodge' is the mantra. Skiers and snowboarders must put on their boots and gear in the parking lot at their vehicles. Lift tickets must be purchased in advance online, cutting down on long lines at ticket windows. And you must wear a mask or a neck gaiter over your mouth and nose whenever you're near other people. So that means even outside waiting in the lift lines.

Here is a list of items you need to get when planning a trip to the mountains for skiing or snowboarding.

* Turtlenecks and sweaters, fleece is a great fabric
* Long underwear makes for a great base layer
* Ski-socks, not made of cotton as they will not keep your toes warm!
* A neck warmer or face mask
* Ski jacket, waterproof if you can find a good one!
* Ski pants, also aim for waterproof to keep your legs warm after a long day on the slopes
* Mittens or gloves and liners
* A hat to wear when you are not wearing a helmet
* Sunscreen and lip balm to protect you from the constant sun
* Boots to keep your feet warm before and after you have your ski or snowboard boots on
* Hand warmers for really cold days
