One of the happiest places in Colorado this spring is in Summit County, Colorado. It is a favorite vacation place for many – locals and tourists alike. Spring allows a slew of new outdoor activities for you to enjoy.

We put together our top 11 reasons why you should be in Summit County, Colorado this spring:

1. Spring Skiing/Snowboarding

While most resorts are closed for the season;  Summit County has one left open! The slush of the snow has some allure; plus you can make all of your friends jealous by posting your late season sessions on your social media channels.  Arapahoe Basin will be open until June (or until the snow lasts)!


2. Art Festivals (Wave: Light + Water + Sound)

A four-day festival that features interactive artworks, temporary installations and musical performances in and around the Blue River Plaza, transforming the river, bridges and waterfront area into outdoor canvasses and exhibition spaces.

The Summit celebrates the turn of the season by holding "mud season" festivities that includes brain buster trivia nights. Check out our local brewery, The Outer Range, for a full lineup of their upcoming events. Breckenridge and Dillon also have a few businesses hosting trivia nights.


4. Skiing in Costume


From the skimpiest to the most awkward costumes, a few adorn fun costumes while skiing or snowboarding down the hill. These skiers in bikinis and wacky outfits outdo the normal skiing attire. They provide excellent photo opportunities! #Winning

5. 300 days of sunshine 



Summit County has a total of 300 sunny days and surely, the spring promises to take – huge – part of it.


6. Fly Fishing


Spring is the ULTIMATE time of the year to go fly fishing. The water is starting to warm up which causes the fish to start spawning. We have plenty of rivers and lakes to cast your line. 


7. Wildflower picking


Colorado is known for having some of the most beautiful foliage in the world. At the end of May you will start to see our wildlife and plant life, well...come to life! Go to Lillypad lake or 10 Mile Creek to start your outdoor adventure.

From concerts to parties, Summit County comes alive, if you have the moves to show off. Get your dancing shoes on and have some fun! Barkley's in Frisco, Colorado or the Brown in Breckenridge, Colorado is your best bet to find a concert.


9. Disc Golf in Frisco


The Peak One Disc Golf course is open to the public free of charge. Reservations for the course are only required for private games and tournaments. There are discs available for purchase at the Day Lodge Ticket Office and they can be purchased at most sporting goods stores in Frisco.


10. Parties at the Patio


See many patios and decks change to party zones this spring. Apres-ski to any favorite deck or patio in the Summit County. We personally love the view from Prost. Among the most known spring activities in Summit County are downtown parties. With the winter hibernation gone, everyone is out and about to shake off the remnants of the past season with a great view and possibly a cold beverage.


11. Bicycle around the Rockies


The Colorado Rocky Mountains are a beautiful, scenic location. While most people see them by car or train, another alternative is to cycle through the mountains. The Frisco Lodge offers FREE bicycle rentals starting in May until the snow falls.
