The following is a list of our top six spring events that are worth checking out.

Just nine miles up the road from the Frisco Lodge lies Breckenridge Ski Resort and all that it encompasses. From March 18th to April 17th “the biggest spring party in the Rocky Mountains” is back. This month-long celebration includes a multitude of events on the mountain and in town, but the following are some to be sure not to miss.

Spring Fever Chili Cook off

Noon on Sunday April 3rd is the time and the Sevens Restaurant Patio is the place for the Breck Chili Cook off presented by Budweiser. The top chefs from Breckenridge will be competing for the the title of best chili recipe, and for just $10 you can indulge in all of the chili your body can handle. Be sure to vote for your favorite recipe.

Spring Fever Beer Festival

The 10th annual Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival takes place on Saturday, April 9th on Ridge Street in downtown Breckenridge. For just $27.50 ($35 day of tickets), enjoy free live music, sample beers from over 35 breweries, and visit the many food booths and retail vendors. New in 2016, attendees with pre-purchased tickets will have the chance to enjoy beer tastings from 12-1pm with special brews for this hour only. If you are looking for a VIP experience, $70 will get you a special entrance, a glass collectors mug, unlimited beer tasting, a catered lunch, and a private tent away from the crowds with private bathrooms.

Bud Light Concert Series

The three FREE days of concerts at the base of Peak 8 will help you finish the Breckenridge ski season in style. Cut your day on the slopes short at 2pm as DJ DC will get the party started with music and free swag on all three concert dates. On Saturday, April 9th Michael Franti & Spearhead bring their R&B, hip-hop and reggae blend to the stage at 3pm. On Saturday, April 16th the son of the legendary Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, will perform their cowboy, beach-hippy vibe for concert-goers before Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue close out the concert series with their hard-edged funk on Sunday, April 17th.

Copper Mountain’s Sunsation

Free to watch with entry fees if you decide to enter any events, Copper Mountain’s Sunsation closes out their season on Saturday and Sunday, April 16th and 17th with an array of live music and contests. The two signature events are the 5th annual SlopeSoakers and the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest where contestants pond-skim on skis for prizes in the former and strut their bikinis for awards in the latter. This is one event with plenty of springtime fun to go around.

Just a 15-minute drive from our Frisco hotel, Keystone will be rounding out its ski season with a couple of fun spring events, including the Red Bull Schlittentag and Slush Cup.

Red Bull Schlittentag

German for “sledding day,” the Red Bull Schlittentag will take place on Saturday, April 2nd at 2pm on Lower Haywood at the Mountain House Base Area. But this is not a normal sledding event as contestants will propel themselves down the hill and over a jump on home-built sleds. The three-person daredevil teams include a pilot and two others to give the sled a push before heading onto the fame and glory that follows. All participants will be judged on their creativity, fastest time and distance “flown” off the jump.

Slush Cup

Sunday, April 10th is Keystone’s closing day, and with it comes a closing weekend tradition – the Slush Cup, Keystone’s version of Copper’s SlopeSoakers event. These pond-skimmers will compete for Best Costume, Best Crash, and Best Overall from 10:30am to 1pm, all the while jamming to live music from the Beloved Invaders.
